Redecorating your bathroom can be quite a large and lengthy task. However, it is also an exciting project for your home, and a chance for you to change things up and enhance the design and features within your bathroom. As far as interior design trends go, they are ever-changing. New trends come into play all the time, and while it is good to take inspiration from the latest trends, redecorating your bathroom is all about personal taste and making it your own.

Here at KJ East we work on bathroom renovations a lot, and so we see firsthand the amazing transformations that people make, as well as the different ways you can experiment with design. So, we thought we would share with you some of our top tips for redecorating your bathroom…

Think practical

Although when you are redecorating, the main focus tends to be on the overall appearance, it is important to think practical too. For example, your bathroom is very much water-based, and so you should opt for design features such as tiling and flooring that is compatible with this and that won’t face water damage.

Furthermore, you might want to be practical by upgrading to more environmentally friendly appliances and facilities. A lot of modern bathroom features are now much more eco-friendly than they used to be. This often means that they use a lot less water, which as a result is kinder to the environment but will also help you save money on your energy bills.

Finally, you want to ensure that you have a practical design. This mostly revolves around the layout of the bathroom. You need to ensure that it is practical and that it works in a way that suits you, all whilst still looking fantastic.

Incorporate a personal touch

When redecorating any part of your home, personalisation is key. One of the best ways to make a house a home is to put your own personal touch on it, and translate your own character through design choice. When you are redecorating, you have complete freedom to design things in whatever way you would like, from colour schemes, to layout, to lighting. Therefore, you can experiment and really incorporate a personal touch.

Keep up to date with the latest trends

As we mentioned in the start of this blog, design trends are always changing and being refreshed. However, this doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t take current trends into account. There could be new trends that really appeal to you, or perhaps a new popular colour scheme that you might not have thought of before, but in fact really like. It is good to take influence from new and popular design trends, and this often allows you to explore a little more and consider new things with your design.

Set a budget before planning

Depending on the extent of your bathroom project, it is always good to have a budget in mind before you begin planning. This way you are able to plan effectively and realistically, knowing how much money you are willing to spend and what you can afford to do. It also means that you will look at affordable options for yourself so that you are planning the redecorating with realistic goals.
